Keeping your guests on the dance floor
If dancing and music is important to you at your wedding, then curating the right environment is key! Here are a few tips to ensure that your guests and you have a night filled with fun and dancing!
1. Curate a playlist
One of the most crucial elements to keeping guests on the dance floor is the music selection. Curate a playlist that throughout your engagement season full of songs that keep you dancing and songs that you know are a hit with your friends and family! Having a playlist helps your DJ/Band know what the “vibe” is and what you want to hear throughout the night!
2. Have dance floor props
Engage your guests by providing some fun props! Things like sunglasses, hats, foam LED sticks, etc! These are cost-effective items and your guests will love them! An added plus is they are really fun in pictures!
3. Create a welcoming atmosphere
Setting the right mood for your wedding reception is KEY to getting people to stay on the dance floor all night long! Consider turning the lights down or use up-lighting only throughout the venue at a certain point in the night. Also very important to is to ensure there is a designated dancing area - whether that is by a dance floor or ensuring there is enough space in front of the DJ or band!
4. Offer a late night snack
Keep guests fueled and ready to dance by offering late-night snacks and refreshments. Consider setting up a snack bar with easy-to-eat bites near the dance floor. Close proximity to the bar is also helpful ;)
4. The Bride and Groom set the tone!
Final tip is that the bride and groom set the tone for the reception! If the newlyweds want to dance - so will everyone else! Recruit your wedding party to the dance floor and make sure to communicate that is where you want everyone to be all night long!
